ZIUR presents its success story related to IEC 62443 standards in Bilbao
ZIUR has participated in the conference on challenges of the IEC62443 certification process for industrial cybersecurity, organized by APD with the collaboration of S21Sec and Check Point Software in Bilbao, in which attendees have been able to learn about the process and the actors involved in the certification for industrial products, following the safety requirements of the international standard IEC 62443.
In the different presentations, key aspects of the regulations have been presented and the certifiable elements have been detailed. In this sense, the technical director of ZIUR, María Penilla, has shared with the attendees the project that ZIUR has carried out based on IEC 62443, for the evaluation of the cybersecurity of products in the Machine Tool sector.
The ZIUR expert explained that this project, in which S21Sec also participates as an independent evaluation laboratory, consisted of evaluating the safety of 4 industrial products based on the IEC 62443 4-1 and IEC 62443 4-2 standards, and in turn, analyze the validity of the methodology developed by ZIUR as a future tool for the cybersecurity evaluation of industrial products.
In this sense, María Penilla has stated that the objective of the project, based on the ZIUR evaluation framework, is “for the 4 selected manufacturers to start the certification project from the most basic level with the intention that they continue to evolve in their system. of processes, and in turn, that their experience can help other companies.”
Penilla offered a detailed presentation of the project, as well as a list of considerations about the certification process, and finally, she held a debate on the challenge of the IEC62443 certification process together with leading experts in the sector.
