ZIUR shows to the Paper Cluster the risks of the Spear Phishing

With this practice, attackers attempt to obtain confidential information from the victim via email

This Thursday, May 29, ZIUR offered training on spear phishing, a type of phishing in which attackers attempt to obtain confidential information from the victim via email. This online course was aimed at companies in the Paper Cluster, especially managers, heads of management and IT systems, IT security, and production directors and technicians.

The training was given by two ZIUR members, Iñaki Torrecilla and Markel Gómez, who demonstrated the current risks of phishing, explained the typology, attack strategies, and internal strategies for addressing this type of incident. They also offered recommendations on how to effectively manage a cyberattack and how to define an internal response protocol.

They have stated that, through this type of attack, cybercriminals try to gain the trust of the email recipient through deception and manipulation. "They pose as trusted individuals, companies, or services and try to get us to perform actions that compromise our data and/or our security," they warned.

Both ZIUR experts pointed out in this training that spear phishing is one of the most common attacks suffered by organizations and warned that it can entail significant risks. Therefore, addressing this type of crisis, trying to prevent it, and understanding the tasks that must be performed to ensure cybersecurity is essential for organizations and the industry.
