ZIUR offers personalized phishing advice to companies in Beterri-Buruntza
Following the successful webinar held last February, the Foundation has organized a second in-person session in Hernani
ZIUR, the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center, held a workshop on spear phishing on May 22nd in conjunction with the Beterri-Buruntza Association (Mancomunidad de Beterri Buruntza). The goal was to raise awareness among companies in the region about the risks of phishing and provide advice on defining an industrial cybersecurity protocol as a preventative measure.
Spear phishing is a form of phishing in which the sender of the email pretends to be a legitimate entity. It is one of the most common cyberattacks on businesses. In these social engineering attacks, criminals attempt to obtain confidential information from the victim.
Iñaki Torrecilla, ICS Security Architect at ZIUR, and Markel Gómez, industrial cybersecurity analyst at the Foundation, led a workshop for four companies in the region, sharing basic concepts and real-life examples. They also offered advice on defining a cybersecurity protocol to present prevention strategies.
This workshop is the second in a series of training sessions that will be held throughout 2025 and is the result of the collaboration signed between the two entities at the beginning of the year to contribute to improving the competitiveness of SMEs in Andoain, Astigarraga, Hernani, Lasarte-Oria, Urnieta, and Usurbil.
The workshop is part of the "Beterri-Buruntza Digitala" program, an initiative of the Beterri-Buruntza Association and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, specifically designed to accelerate the digital transformation of SMEs in the municipalities of the region.
