ZIUR trains a dozen students from the SEIM IT Studies Center in cyber-incident management
Students of the private master's degree in IT cybersecurity from the SEIM IT Studies Center in San Sebastián visited ZIUR's facilities on April 7 to participate in a theoretical and practical session on industrial cybersecurity. The students were able to learn firsthand about the activities of the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center and the main fundamentals of cyber-incident management in industrial environments.
To this end, Iñaki Torrecilla, ICS Security Architect at ZIUR, and Markel Gómez, cybersecurity analyst, invited the students to participate in several dynamics in which they could put into practice the fundamentals they had learned about cyber-incident management in an industrial environment, through the board game "Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation (KIPS)." Specifically, the students implemented a cybersecurity strategy in a simulation of a water management plant experiencing a cyber incident, with the goal of maintaining business continuity.
During the session, they learned how to respond to cybersecurity events by choosing proactive and reactive measures, such as conducting a security audit or acquiring endpoint protection solutions, among other aspects.
ZIUR's objective with these sessions is to contribute to the development of professional talent in cybersecurity, offering students a broader vision of cybersecurity and sharing the reality of industrial companies in the region in this area.
Among the educational stakeholders with whom ZIUR regularly conducts training activities are the vocational training center featured in this session, SEIM, Mondragon University, Zubiri Manteo, Easo Politeknikoa, the College of Engineers, Armería Eskola, Izarraitz LH, and the UPV/EHU.
Regarding the latter, it is worth mentioning the agreement between the cybersecurity center and the UPV/EHU and the ZIUR Cybersecurity Business Classroom, created in 2022. This classroom aims to improve the development of the skills of teaching staff, researchers, and students at the Basque public university through innovation, the generation and transformation of knowledge, as well as networking and project promotion and management.
