ZIUR Strengthens Cybersecurity Training for Gipuzkoa's Development Agencies in an Exclusive Session in Tolosa
The center shares a ten-point cybersecurity guide with some twenty representatives
ZIUR, the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center promoted by the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, held an exclusive cybersecurity training and awareness session this morning in Tolosa for local development agencies in the region. The session, held at the Lehiberri center, is part of the Digital SME program and did not include direct participation from companies, as it was specifically designed for key entities within the economic ecosystem.
The training was delivered by ZIUR experts Iñaki Torrecilla and Markel Gómez, who emphasized the importance of SMEs having a basic cybersecurity guide as a starting point for addressing their digital maturity in an organized and effective manner. The session was held in collaboration with Gipuzkoa's development agencies and represents the first activity of the year for the Digital SME program.
During the event, ZIUR provided a practical overview of cybersecurity for these organizations, presenting an updated assessment of the situation of companies in Gipuzkoa, the main types of cyberattacks they face, and their level of maturity in digital security. They also outlined the key elements of a ten-point cybersecurity guide for SMEs, addressing essential aspects such as asset inventory, backups, endpoint protection, perimeter security, network segmentation, password management, remote access, phishing prevention, staff training, and crisis management.
Furthermore, the speakers highlighted ZIUR's work supporting the region's business community, presenting some of the projects currently underway, such as KELA and the Spear Phishing project, aimed at improving companies' preparedness against increasingly sophisticated threats.
The session also served to unveil the first Acceleration Program for compliance with European cybersecurity regulations, promoted by ZIUR in conjunction with the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. This pioneering initiative, with a budget of 3 million euros, aims to help Gipuzkoa manufacturing companies accelerate their adaptation to various European regulations affecting connected industrial products.
The program includes three industrial cybersecurity laboratories and will offer participating companies support from up to 10 professional cybersecurity experts in OT, IoT, and IoMT, thereby strengthening the competitiveness and resilience of the region's industrial sector in the face of current regulatory and technological challenges.
