ZIUR underlines the strategic value of cybersecurity at the Trend Micro World Tour Forum held in Bilbao
The Foundation invited CIOs and CISOs from major Basque organizations to reflect on cybersecurity from a business perspective
ZIUR, the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center, participated yesterday, the 18th, in an exclusive cybersecurity meeting as part of the Trend Micro World Tour Forum. Aimed at IT security leaders from major Basque organizations, the forum, organized by Trend Micro, aimed to reflect on the main challenges in cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and risk management from a business perspective. Furthermore, the ten attending CIOs and CISOs from organizations in sectors such as industry, banking, insurance, healthcare, public administration, and public infrastructure were able to share experiences and future perspectives.
Cybersecurity in 2025 faces a new turning point. The attack surface is growing, threats are becoming more intelligent, and regulatory pressure is intensifying. But a new opportunity is also present: it is time to redefine the role of cybersecurity as a strategic and value-driven driver within the organization. But are we ready to make the transition from reactive cybersecurity to truly proactive security?
The general director of ZIUR, María Penilla, and the general director of the Basque Government's Information Technology Society (EJIE), Asier Sáez de Bikuña, led a roundtable discussion in Bilbao, where cybersecurity experts discussed resilience strategies and reflected on the importance of transforming cybersecurity into a key business asset within organizations.
In this regard, the director of the Foundation stated that "cybersecurity is a key element for the economic development and competitiveness of industrial companies, as large companies increasingly demand cyber-secure products in the supply chain, as well as demands that their suppliers have security equivalent to that of their own company."
Security leaders also discussed the latest developments in the regulatory framework. They shared their experience implementing DORA, NIS2, CRA, and ENS regulations, and received a list of recommendations from the ZIUR expert to improve their cybersecurity maturity through compliance with these standards.
In addition, the session focused on how CIOs and CISOs must change their approach so that management committees understand the importance of cybersecurity and the importance of being aligned with the company's strategy. As a result, cybersecurity leaders discussed their current needs and shared the internal and external challenges they face on a daily basis.
Finally, Trend Micro, as a global leader in computer security software, presented its cybersecurity solutions, with the aim of providing the executives present with resources that will help facilitate cybersecurity management in companies.
