ZIUR presents its Acceleration Program for compliance with European cybersecurity regulations at MUBIL Mobility Expo
María Penilla, director of the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center, gave a presentation on the challenges facing the automotive and mobility sector, which will have to certify its connected industrial products as cybersecure.
The automotive and mobility sector is among those that will have to adapt their processes and products to the new cybersecurity regulations that will affect them, including the CRA (Cyber Resilience Act), which will come into full force in 2027. This reality was the focus of a presentation by the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center, ZIUR, at MUBIL Mobility Expo, the industrial trade fair focused on sustainable and smart mobility, held at Ficoba.
At the event, ZIUR presented its Acceleration Program for compliance with European cybersecurity regulations for connected industrial products (CRA). This advisory and support tool for companies aims to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation of the industrial fabric in Gipuzkoa.
María Penilla, director of ZIUR, gave a presentation on the current state of cybersecurity in the automotive sector in the Basque Country at the MUBIL stand located at the Irun fairgrounds. Penilla addressed, among other topics, the importance of having a cyber intelligence service in companies (the KELA project), ZIUR's methodology for evaluating cybersecurity in industrial products, which analyzes different controls, and how the European NIS2 and CRA regulations will affect the supply chain of companies in the mobility and automotive sectors.
Regarding the last point, European requirements for cybersecurity certifications of products are becoming increasingly stringent, and this paradigm shift is one of the biggest challenges facing the sector. Penilla explained, with supporting data, that in certain supply chains and in terms of cybersecurity assessments for industrial products, there is still a long way to go.
In this context, ZIUR has launched its Acceleration Program for compliance with European cybersecurity regulations for connected industrial products. This pioneering initiative, with an investment of three million euros, aims to assess up to 80 connected industrial products and, in doing so, help companies comply with, among other things, the CRA (Cybersecurity Regulation). Adapting to this law is not only a regulatory obligation but will also be an undeniable competitive advantage for Gipuzkoa-based companies in the European market.
ZIUR, an active partner of MUBIL Mobility Expo 2026
Within the framework of the MUBIL Mobility Expo 2026, ZIUR participated in the industrial and technological tours organized for exhibiting companies. These tours aimed to showcase the innovation, capabilities, and sustainable mobility ecosystem of Gipuzkoa and the Basque Country, fostering strategic alliances. ZIUR hosted companies from the mobility sector at its facilities to share cybersecurity initiatives applied to smart and sustainable mobility.
Furthermore, as a partner of the 5th edition of this trade fair, ZIUR participated in the congress held during the event. María Penilla, director of ZIUR, has collaborated by moderating the panel “Intelligent data management with AI and cybersecurity for connected and autonomous mobility”, in which experts from the sector belonging to companies such as AVL Ibérica Euskadi, Neximode Solutions, Serveo Servicios, bigD Industrial Design and Innovation, Vicomtech and Kapsch Group participated.
