ZIUR joins the Eclipse Foundation to promote innovation and cybersecurity in open source industrial software
ZIUR, the Industrial Cybersecurity Center of Gipuzkoa, has become a member of the Eclipse Foundation, an international organization that promotes collaboration and innovation in open source software development.
The Eclipse Foundation's philosophy—based on open cooperation, transparency, and the promotion of industrial innovation—is fully in line with ZIUR's strategy and with the new Market Place project, promoted together with the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. This project is the first acceleration program aimed at facilitating compliance with European regulations on cybersecurity for connected industrial products, a key area for the competitiveness of companies in the region.
“Being members of the Eclipse Foundation allows us to be in direct contact with the international software development community, to better understand the impact of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) on industrial products, and to transfer that knowledge to the business community in Gipuzkoa,” says ZIUR's general manager, María Penilla.

“We’re delighted to welcome ZIUR to the Eclipse Foundation and the Open Regulatory Compliance Working Group,” said Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation. “As Europe moves toward implementing the Cyber Resilience Act, the expertise of members like ZIUR will be instrumental in helping our community navigate these new regulations and meet the compliance requirements that come with them”.
With more than two decades of experience, the Eclipse Foundation is backed by more than 300 members worldwide and enjoys international prestige for its ability to drive community-led, industry-focused open-source innovation. The organization currently coordinates strategic projects in areas such as enterprise Java, embedded systems, and automotive and mobility, areas in which software cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important.
For ZIUR, this membership represents another step forward in its commitment to strengthening industrial cybersecurity, especially at a time when most manufacturing companies are incorporating free software—such as libraries or open source resources—into their products.
