ZIUR participates in the 6th International CIO Congress, which proposes a critical and realistic look at the role of technology in the company

The Foundation led a roundtable discussion on the role of cybersecurity as a strategic pillar in organizations

ZIUR, the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center, participated this morning in the 6th International CIO Congress organized by APD in Madrid, with Sala as a sponsor. Led by around thirty IT experts, 1,000 professionals learned, both in person and via streaming, the keys to addressing current cybersecurity challenges, such as artificial intelligence, automation, sustainability, and change leadership. There, ZIUR's general manager, María Penilla, offered her perspective on the threats and opportunities facing corporate cybersecurity.

Various studies conclude that both cyberthreats and cyberattacks will increase by almost 40% by 2025. If we look at this in economic terms, these same reports raise the potential cost to companies worldwide to €10 billion.

In this regard, the ZIUR expert moderated a roundtable discussion on the challenges every organization must face when developing a cybersecurity action plan. In this discussion, which took place in the ZIUR Room, Álvaro Blanco of the legal services firm Garrigues, Vanessa Gil of BBVA, and Nacho García of the cloud computing services company GIGAS offered their views on legislative changes, hyperconnectivity, skills, strategic profiles, and the increased exposure to digital risks, under the direction of Penilla.

During the roundtable discussion, the ZIUR director stated that "today, investing in cybersecurity is already considered a factor in business competitiveness." Thus, the other speakers shared Penilla's reflection, asserting that security is not an expense, but a shared responsibility and a competitive advantage if managed with vision. They also affirmed that, when it comes to cybersecurity, it's not just about technology, but also about strategy, investment, and culture. The panel concluded with the idea that protecting while driving digital transformation in companies is essential.
