María Penilla, at the AFM Congress: “Let’s take advantage of the CRA to be better and more competitive”

"Let's take advantage of the CRA regulations to become better and more competitive." This was the message from ZIUR's Director, María Penilla, at a cybersecurity meeting held as part of 'The Manufacturing Congress 2025', within the 24th Advanced Manufacturing and Machine Tools Congress organized by the AFM Cluster. Penilla addressed industrial companies, offering ZIUR's support in all matters related to cybersecurity. "You will always find in us a partner to work together on this issue," she stated.
Leading state and local professionals in the cybersecurity sector, including AFM Cluster, Siemens, Orbik, and Tecnalia, along with cybersecurity centers such as CCI Industrial Cybersecurity Center and ZIUR, met in San Sebastián to discuss the challenges facing machine tool and advanced technology manufacturers in the context of digital transformation, sustainability, and industrial competitiveness within a highly uncertain global environment.
The entry into force of the Cyber Resilience Law (CRA) and the NIS2 regulation, which are redefining the rules for many Basque industries, were two of the main topics of the day. Penilla explained the scope, requirements, and implications of the CRA for companies and urged organizations to “take it seriously and not treat compliance as a mere formality.” “You are targets for cybercriminals, and we would like to help you ensure your machines remain unaffected,” he stated.
In addition to the director of ZIUR, other participants in this cybersecurity meeting included José Valiente from CCI Industrial Cybersecurity Center, Jon Arregui from AFM Cluster, Juan Carlos Pozas from Siemens, Salvador Trujillo from Orbik, and Oscar Lage from Tecnalia. The event made it clear that “cybersecurity is no longer optional, but rather a strategic factor for competitiveness, trust, and industrial resilience.”
