Gipuzkoa is once again committed to strengthening the cybersecurity of its companies with new aid totaling 400,000 euros
The call for proposals, launched by the Department of Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects, is structured in two lines that respond to the immediate needs of SMEs as well as to new regulatory and technological requirements
The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council is once again launching its call for applications for grants to strengthen the cybersecurity of companies in the region in 2026. Within the framework of the ‘Gipuzkoa Digitala’ program, the Department of Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects, in collaboration with ZIUR, Gipuzkoa's Industrial Cybersecurity Center, has updated the cybersecurity grant program, structuring it into two lines that address both the immediate needs of companies and new regulatory and technological requirements, especially those from Europe.
The manufacturing industry, in line with the European and international trend, is not immune to the increase in cyber threat incidents and, for the fourth consecutive year, has been identified as the most affected sector due to its high dependence on automated systems and the critical nature of business continuity. Despite growing interest in the subject, many industrial SMEs are still in the process of adopting cybersecurity practices, which have become a structural element for ensuring their competitiveness as they operate in global supply chains that demand increasingly higher levels of digital security.
With the aim of further increasing these cybersecurity practices, this call for proposals, published in the Official Gazette of Gipuzkoa on April 13, includes two funding lines: the first, with a budget of €265,000, is aimed at strengthening companies' advanced cybersecurity capabilities through the implementation of threat detection services and the development of incident response plans. The second, with a budget of €135,000, focuses on improving, renewing, and modernizing the infrastructure that controls processes and machinery on the factory floor. In 2025, the cybersecurity support lines, with a budget of €400,000, benefited 42 companies in the region.
The first funding line offers up to €20,000 in aid and is open to any Gipuzkoa-based SME. The application period, already open, ends on September 16. The second funding line offers grants of up to €30,000 and applications must be submitted by May 25. Any company operating in Gipuzkoa is eligible, provided the project's results are directly applicable to these facilities. In this second case, the aid amount will be increased by up to 15 percentage points if the beneficiary company commits to collaborating with ZIUR throughout the project's development.
