ZIUR Warns Fifty Second-Year Secondary School Students About the Risks of the Internet and Social Media

Students from Axular Lizeoa Witness a Simulated Hack of a Popular App in ZIUR's Lab

Second-year secondary school students from Axular Lizeoa visited ZIUR's facilities this Tuesday to participate in an awareness and prevention session on online privacy and digital security. The session was led by Iñaki Torrecilla, ICS Security Architect at ZIUR, and Markel Gómez, cybersecurity analyst.

ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) inspire children and young people to explore, be creative, communicate, and learn, but it is important that they also have information and strategies for protecting themselves against the potential risks that can arise in these digital spaces.

In this context, experts from the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center (ZIUR) gave a presentation on the risks associated with the internet and social media, aiming to highlight the importance of responsible ICT use and strategies for maintaining security.

They addressed topics such as risks to digital identity, digital footprint, password management, practices like cyberbullying, sexting, and grooming, the risks of viral challenges, privacy options on social media, netiquette, and phishing, among others. Afterwards, schoolchildren from San Sebastián witnessed a simulated hack of an app they use daily in the ZIUR laboratory.

Finally, they were able to visit the offices and learn about working in the field of cybersecurity.
